Nepal Adventure

Our trip to Nepal was not a vacation, but an extreme adventure! We spent much of our stay in a small village outside the jungle of Chitwan National Park where we rented a guest house from Noga and Shiva of Wild by Nature. Shiva, known as Jhum-Baba in the village, is a well respected jungle guide. He took us on long hikes in search of exotic animals. Living in a rural village among the local Nepali people was a rare opportunity that the typical tourist does not have. We left the jungle for a few days to see the awesome Himalayas, which are like our Rocky Mountains on steroids. On our last evening we headed to the roof of our hotel in Kathmandu to check out the view and were blessed with a rare siting of Mt. Everest as it peeked through the clouds. ''Painting is my passion and even though it is impractical to carry wood chunks with me, I always take my watercolors or pastels along when I travel. The pastel paintings below were painted en plein air when I was in Nepal, often with an audience of villagers gathered around me.''
